DICOPO, MediaLaws and DigiCon research groups are delighted to invite you to participate to a new DICOPO Online Roundtable, which will take place online on Thursday, 26 February 2026, from 5:00 to 6:15 PM CET.

The selected topic for this session is “Rethinking connectivity in Europe: the Digital Networks Act”.

Connectivity is recognised at European level as a crucial element for digital transformation and for achieving the objectives of the European digital decade. Robust, fast, and secure networks enable digital skills development and business innovation, including Artificial Intelligence, while helping to reduce the digital divide and ensure inclusive participation and competitiveness across the European Union.

At the same time, the regulatory framework governing electronic communications is subject to the pressure of technological change, cross-border service provisions and the need of a resilient and secure infrastructures. Market fragmentation and barriers continue to affect investment, innovation and the development of connectivity across Member States. In this context, the European Commission has recently presented a proposal for a Digital Networks Act (“DNA”), aimed to establish a renewed regulatory framework for the Union’s connectivity sector and to replace the current European Electronic Communication Code.

The Roundtable will provide an in-depth legal and regulatory discussion of the main issues raised by the proposal, with particular attention to its potential impact on competition dynamics, infrastructure investment, cloud ecosystems and industrial landscape, as well as on its possible role in reducing fragmentation within electronic communications sector and promoting a coherent and robust European connectivity framework.

The event aims to unpack these challenges by bringing together perspectives from academia, regulatory authorities, industry and civil society.
